Robert Gabay MSc OESH, BA (Hons)

Robert Gabay has 25 years experience in the fields of occupational safety and health as well as disaster management. He holds a Master of Science in Occupational and Environmental Safety and Health and a Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences, Language and Literature.
Robert has been credited as an OSHA Outreach Trainer and a Certified Occupational Safety Specialist (COSS). He has also worked in the Bauxite, Telecommunications, Business Process Outsourcing and the Petrochemicals industries.
Robert is a strong advocate of legislative reform and the need for a paradigm shift with respect to the management of health and safety in Jamaican workplaces and has a wealth of information which he is always eager to share. The proud father of four sons enjoys an energetic game of table tennis, playing squash or reading a good novel.

Elva Clarke MSc OESH, BSc (Hons)

Elva Clarke has spent the last 12 years in professional training development and delivery, first with the UWI OESH programme and later with the Caribbean HIV/AIDS Regional Training network. She holds a Master of Science in Occupational and Environmental Safety and Health and a Bachelors’ degree in Chemistry and Applied Chemistry.
As a safety and health practitioner she specializes in industrial hygiene measurements and monitoring as well as asbestos abatement management. She is also certified for Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) and a graduate member of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health.
Elva has delivered training to scores of private and public sector entities throughout the Caribbean and she remains dedicated to equipping Jamaican and Caribbean nationals with the requisite skills to identify, anticipate and control workplace hazards. She sits on the Caribbean arm of the International Labour Organisation’s (ILO’s) Resource Team for Occupational Safety, Health and the Environment.
